Redaction
A public record may contain information that should not be disclosed. In this instance, redaction may be in order. Redaction means editing a record to prevent public viewing of material that should not be disclosed. Words, sentences, paragraphs, or whole pages may be subject to redaction.
Prime examples of private information contained in public documents would be either a driver’s license or social security number appearing in a deed or some other land record. These numbers are two of the most commonly used in cases of identity theft and fraud.
However, an original document which has not been redacted and is completed unaltered will always be preserved. This will be available for official use only, protecting individuals from disclosure of private information.
Historical records and new documentsMST Redactions Solutions involve both automated and manual options making the redaction of new records and documents highly effective.
